Feature: A Little Dash of Darling

Today I'm so excited to be able to feature Caitlin from A Little Dash of Darling.   This newly married sweetheart is a law student living in Southern California with her husband and her dog.  She has an incredible blog that I fell in love with straight away and she has style that I envy.  I asked her a couple questions so that we could get to know the gorgeous blonde behind the blog a little bit better.

 1.      What inspired you to start your blog?

I am in my third year of law school and life as a law student can get pretty intense. I was desperately needing a creative outlet and I have always been passionate about fashion (cliche to say, I know). But it truly has always been something that's been fun for me. No matter what it's always important to do things for yourself that make you happy. With this blog I can let my creative juices flow and focus my energy on something that I actually enjoy (sorry law school, it's not you haha). But I REALLY am enjoying my blog! And I hope my readers are too.

2.      How long have you been blogging for?

I finally grew the courage to start my blog this past October. I had been thinking about it for over a year but between planning our wedding (without a planner) and law school I just never found the time. Finally, I just decided... what better time than NOW?

3.      What are some of your favourite items in your closet at the moment?

I recently just purchased a FABULOUS white tulle tutu skirt that I just feel is the epitome of feminine flair! When I was younger I refused to let my mom buy me a skirt unless it had "twirlability." I still have that little princess inside of me and this skirt lets me bring it out full force. My first love (besides my amazing husband of course) will also always be my Chanel purse. It was that one big purchase item I had been dying over but knew I had to wait for. It just has that special place in my heart!

4.      Who and where do you find your outfit inspiration from?

I find inspiration everywhere. Music can suddenly change my mood which comes out in my style. I also love finding inspiration on other blogs as they are a great source to see a new take on how to wear your favorite shirt! Pinterest is also amazing because not only can you draw on other bloggers for inspiration, but you can create mood boards and color boards (which I love to do)!

5.      What do you never leave home without?

Lately I haven't been willing to leave home without my mint Rebecca Minkoff purse (http://bit.ly/VXgBlH). I also love all of my YSL lipsticks (http://bit.ly/YO8VXl). They are like butter on your lips and are the perfect finishing touch on any outfit! 

6.      Of all the places that you’ve travelled to, which has been your favourite?

I would have to say Africa. All of the animals were so beautiful and amazing and thrilling to see!! A safari may not be glamorous pool-side relaxing Italian vacation (which I also LOVE) but it's such an amazing experience that I will truly never forget... and I hope to take my husband there someday soon too.

7.      You will be graduating with a law degree soon!  Do you plan to practice?

Good question! Haha! I would love to find a legal position in the fashion industry if possible. If not, I will always have my blog, which I am really enjoying. I also hope to have kids someday soon so if I could continue to work from home at that point that would be ideal.

8.      You like to blog about fitness.  What is your favourite way to get
a great workout?

I love going to the gym or going for a run. I like to keep my heart rate up so at the gym I can burn an average of 600 calories plus in an hour by lifting. In between gym days I run and go to yoga and/or spin class! It's all about mixing it up and sweating like a pig!

9.      What do you love to do in your spare time?

Spare time? What's that? Haha just kidding. Besides blogging, shopping, and working out, I also love to play tennis when I have the chance and playing with my puppy (ok he's not a puppy any more but in my mind he always will be). My husband and I also love to go out to dinner, see movies, and get together with friends on weekends.

10.     Is your husband as stylish as you are?

He sure is handsome... and I think he takes style cues from me. Since we have been together I think he's much more into it than he ever was before. And when he puts on a suit or those diesel jeans he sure looks good. :)  (PS don't guys have it easy?! Sexy jeans, a tee and a leather jacket and they are good to go).

11.     Why does it seem that every girl raised in Utah was born with
impeccable style?

Utah girls certainly have a distinct style. Living in SoCal for the past 3 years I have gotten used to the laid back surfer girl / hipster look, but then I go back home to Utah and its J. Crew J. Crew J. Crew (who doesn't love J. Crew?!) (I am glad we are out of the Abercrombie phase). I think it's the Utah culture. 

12.    If you only had ten minutes to get ready, what would be your
go-to outfit?

Definitely a bun or fishtail side-braid to start. My hair is always an important accessory to my outfit so if I am running low on time I have to take into account what looks cute with the hair! :) As for what I would throw on, lately it's been my J. Crew Pixie pants (http://bit.ly/14TTzAS) and a silk blouse and coat, vest, or blazer (or maybe all three?) Oh, and red lips to top it all off. I love red lips with a bun.
