Skip Fashion Exchange

It's that time again!  Time for the Skip Fashion Exchange and guess what?  You're invited!  By now I'm pretty sure you are familiar with the Skip Fashion Exchange idea but, in case you've my last blog posts on the topic (such as this one), I thought I'd give you the low-down on what to expect from the event itself. The venues that have been selected for the Skip Fashion Exchanges have been spectacular ones.  The first event in July was hosted at the Urban Tree venue in Sandton.  The August event was held at Katy's Palace in Kramerville.  The next event will be at Turbine Hall in town.  Decorated to perfection, these venues have exuded class have been the perfect venues for such stylish occassions. While our primary reason for attending such a glamorous event might be our fashion calling, it doesn't hurt that these events provide fine dining experiences.  Champagne on arrival followed by the most exquisite three course meal certainly adds to a fun night out.  It's wonderful to be seated in a beautiful venue surrounded by like-minded fashionistas who are dressed to perfection enjoying a high class dinner.Between courses, there is always a breakdown of the latest trends, a short fashion show, exciting giveaways and performances by guest artists that create such a lively atmosphere and have everyone in the room smiling, dancing and giddy with the anticipation of shopping. As for the exchange or swap itself, every girl is expected to bring three items of clothing that the don't see themselves wearing again but must be in perfect condition.  This is a high class swap, not a jumble sale!  No rips, tears, stains or scuff marks.  You don't want to find yourself in a position where there is only poor quality clothing so we need to remember that the items for exchanging must be basically new.  The items you bring for exchanging must be quality items.  Zara and Topshop items are examples of the type of quality items that are recommended. After presenting your items for inspection, they will be valued and graded and you will receive a blue, purple or silver sticker for each item.  When the exchange begins, you will be able to select items based on the colour stickers that you have been given.  Blue can be substituted for blue, purple for purple etc.  If you have a purple sticker, you can't then grab something off of the blue rail for example.  Thanks to these exchanges, I've not only come home with such beautiful items of clothing (such as this Topshop skirt) but I've also had such a great fashionable night out with the girls doing what we do best: shopping!  Get your tickets as soon as possible because you don't want to miss the next Skip Fashion Exchange which also happens to be the last one of this year.  Bring your sisters and your friends and let's have a fun night out together. To create a visual diary of all your gorgeous outfits why not hop on over to the Skip website and join the Three Word Wardrobe campaign.  This will be the best place for you to share the looks you've created with the items that you are bringing to the exchange and also to showcase the items you've taken home from the exchange.  It would be wonderful to see them on the website that Skip has designed especially for fashionistas.  You can read more about the Three Word Wardrobe in this post of mine over here.  You can also share your pictures on Skip's Facebook page.

These stickers act as your credit card when selecting new clothes.  Here you can see I could select three items off the silver rail and one off the purple rail.
