On a day like this

I hope everyone is having a great long weekend!  Yesterday Grant and I went to lunch at Vovo Telo in Parkhurst.  The food was delicious!  The chocolate cake below was the best chocolate cake I have ever tried, perhaps because it was made with buttermilk?  Yesterday evening we went to watch the Johannesburg Symphony choir and orchestra perform Bach's St Matthews Passion.  It was beautiful!

My week in pictures

It's been a very busy week.  I've done so much and the time has just flown by.  My wonderful boyfriend took me for dinner at Koi in Rosebank where we had the most amazing Dim Sum and sushi  followed by delicious fushion earl grey tea with lavender.  The frame is from my room and it has the caption "I want to travel the world so that I have pictures of us kissing in every city".  Couldn't be more accurate.  I went to see him for a cup of tea in his work break and I had a pink petit four yummy!!!  The typography is there as inspiration because I need the studying I'm doing to pay off.  The kitty is TC and he was keeping me company as I studied.  The HUGE bun is so much fun and so elegant.  Surprisingly it's made with a sock!?!  It gave me a headache after a while but it was still pretty.  The jewels are my favourite necklace at the moment.  The cupcake?  A party favour made by my friend and her mom for her 21st birthday party themed black and white.

Have a great weekend everyone!!! xxx

Around the world in a day

On Sunday I had such a wonderful morning.  I thought we'd try something new, like I normally do.  We went to 'Scusi near Zoo Lake for breakfast, something I've been meaning to do for a long time.  The restaurant is so sweet.  It has quite the Italian flair and sitting outside having tea (perhaps it should have been coffee) never becomes old to me.  I have the most amazing time watching the world go buy in just this fashion.

So delicious

For my precious Gran's birthday I thought what better place to celebrate than Succulent Cafe in Northcliff.  This coffee shop is just like a wendy house for adults.  It's so girly and sweet and the food is wonderful.  I love the teacup chandelier and the cake stands.  You can also find all the sweets from when I was a little girl in this shop which makes it even more memorable.

Clouding over

A while ago I spent the day looking for good tea shops as I'm always looking for an interesting take on the age old tradition.  My search ended with the suggestion to stop at the Birdcage on Jan Smuts.  The tea room itself is quite small but the spa next door has a wonderful garden I went walking through.  The desserts were delightful.  What a great way to spend an overcast day.

Ray ban sunglasses, Woolworths top, Forever 21 necklace, Forever New bag, Mr Price leggings and shoes.
